Massage Therapy Providers

Massage therapy is the new necessity for working people. Once massage therapy was a luxury of the rich and a necessity for professional athletes. As benefits of massage therapy are recognized, the field is expanding. Now massage therapist are working with all types of clients. The medical profession is calling in massage therapists to supplement medical treatment in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and rehab facilities. Massage therapy is now a job perk for high paid career positions to keep executives at their peak during their long hours. And, of course, a session with the massage therapist is a prized gift for special occasions.

Massage therapy is currently projected to be one of the fasted growing professions. Many factors are increasing the demand for massage therapists. Few people get regular physical activity at work or play. Those who seldom exercise have problems of inflexibility. Those who are sedentary all day go to a fitness center or a sport, indulging in extreme physical activity for an hour or two. This creates pulled muscles, muscle soreness, and overall stiffness. More people spend hours on the computer which tightens the shoulders, stiffens the back, and puts stress on the wrist. Add stress and massage therapists have more client every day
Massage therapy is applying pressure and manipulating to soft body tissue. There are a multitude of forms of massage therapy. The best known include: deep issue massage, sports massage, Swedish massage, hot stone, shiatsu, and reflexology. Appropriate massage therapy must be used for each client to get the desired results. For some clients, massage therapy addresses a specific physical problem. The techniques for a sports injury would differ from those used for an arthritis patient. Other clients want a relaxing experience to reduce stress and pamper themselves. Therapy can be enhanced by oils, lotions, aromas, and relaxing sounds of music, nature, or a water feature.
Today massage therapists work in a wide range of settings. Some have their own clinic or they work in other facilities such as hospitals or sports clinics. Some massage therapists take appointments in fitness centers, hotels, country clubs, and other resorts facilities. Some massage therapists build a client list, working on referrals and by appointment. These massage therapist carry their workplace with them, carrying portable massage tables, sheets, blankets, pillows, lotions, oils, and a CD player with soothing music or nature sounds. Therapists in all settings use dim lights and aromatic candles to reduce stress before and during the massage.
Stress is the scourge of the twenty-first century. Medical research is recognizing that stress is the causes of many physical illnesses. So the most important overall benefit of massage therapy is relaxation which, in turn, removes the root cause of many physical problems. Massage therapy also addresses specific problems. Massage therapy relieves muscle problems: muscle spasms, injured muscles, and muscle cramps. Massage can increase joint flexibility, especially in rehabilitation. Massage therapy can relieve back pain, foot pain, and migraine headaches. Massage therapy can increase relaxation and help clients sleep longer and more soundly.
